Mr Comey's lawyer entered the answer representing him in a federal court in the Virginia city of Alexandria on Wednesday.
His attorney announced he would attempt to have the case dismissed for various reasons including that his the accused, a detractor of President Donald Trump, was being singled out.
James Comey was indicted just days after Trump pressured his top legal official to take action against him.
Legal Proceedings
At the proceedings on mid-week, Comey's lawyer the legal representative advised the magistrate they aimed to present multiple petitions to terminate the case before a court case, arguing the legal action was vindictive and that a federal prosecutor was improperly appointed to handle the legal matter.
The former director's proceedings was initially overseen by a Virginia prosecutor, who left his position under influence from Trump after his examination into another opponent - New York Attorney General Letitia James - did not succeed to bring criminal charges.
Judicial Environment
The former director appeared in good spirits as he entered the court on mid-week, conversing with his legal team and being lighthearted. He was accompanied by his partner, Patrice Failor and offspring Maureen, a federal prosecutor who the Trump administration recently fired.

"Yes your honour. Appreciate it," he told the court.
Historical Information
Mr Comey was the chief of the Federal Bureau of Investigation from four years and was dismissed about several months into Donald Trump's first administration as president. At the moment, Mr Comey was overseeing an investigation into Russian election interference and whether there were any relationships between Russia and the election effort.
Throughout his leadership, the director sparked a counter-response from the Democratic party when he stated just immediately preceding the national vote that he was examining presidential nominee the candidate's use of a private email server. Legal actions against Clinton were never brought, leading to criticism from the Republican party as well.
Present Charges
Prosecutors allege Mr Comey provided false information to US lawmakers during a legislative proceeding in 2020 when he was being interrogated about both the email probe as well as the election interference investigation. They say he misled the upper house by stating he had not authorized someone at the FBI to disclose to media organizations details about the agency probes.
Government lawyers also accuse Mr Comey of "wrongfully trying to influence, block and impede" the panel by giving misleading testimony to it.
Personal Comments
Through a recording the former director shared to his social media after he was indicted, he stated he was innocent and accused the former president of conducting himself like a "tyrant".
"We have understood for considerable time that there are costs to opposing the former president," he commented. "We choose not to live on our knees."
"I have done nothing wrong," he stated further. "Therefore proceed with a court case."
The accusations against the former director surfaced after Donald Trump posted on digital channels insisting on his attorney general, the attorney general, prosecute the former director and others.
