19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The Russian, a former number one, has endured a challenging period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with former coach Cervara.
Now working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.
This marks his first title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from March of 2023.
The win also signifies he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one various competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to win a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six finals, including in that event previously this season.
The player's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.
Yet the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play assertively, backed up by an better serve.
Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a decider.
He rescued four early opportunities in a close third set before the champion broke to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner earned the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
