Close to 25,000 Lost Power in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Powerful Weather Systems
Approximately 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms swept through the area, producing wind gusts hitting 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Broad Destruction
Locals witnessed large ice chunks measuring up to 7 centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing power throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams working to manage the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Climate Difficulties
Meanwhile, around one thousand energy customers in the southern state also experienced electricity disruptions after the metropolitan area experienced its wettest day in a year and a half.
Emergency response teams responded to over five hundred emergency reports across the area, mainly for building damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

- Hoppers Crossing suburb - various assistance requests
- Wyndham region - 179 emergency requests
At one point on the previous day, in excess of twenty-eight thousand energy customers in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were expected to linger along much of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
Tuesday was forecast to be the most rainy day, with continued severe weather risk expected across various areas of both areas.
Health Warning
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This warning comes after past events where analogous circumstances led to major medical consequences in the state.
